Community Recognition
The Kiwanis Club of Gainesville is proud to sponsor the following community recognition programs:
STAR Students and Teachers
Gainesville Kiwanis has a longstanding tradition of paying tribute to STAR Students and STAR Teachers with an annual awards luncheon. All of the city and county high schools’ STAR Students and STAR Teachers are recognized and given a framed certificate.
To be selected as STAR student, high school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the SAT and be in the top 10-percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average. The competition is sponsored by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) and the PAGE Foundation.
Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
Each year, local law enforcement are honored with the John W. Jacobs Sr. Memorial Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement
